This Ponderosa 42 was built in the Chung Hwa boatyard in Taiwan. Other well-known models from this same yard include CHBs . There are over 1500 CHBs and Ponderosas on the West Coast. The yard has the reputation of producing a strong, well-built hull with excellent fiberglass and wood work.

This is a very traditional design with a well appointed interior.

Note that Waterline Boats / Boatshed reports capacities and dimensions from information provided by the seller and/or literature, and does not independently measure these figures.

The Ponderosa 42 Sundeck really has four living areas and two large staterooms, each with their own heads. The living areas include the main salon, galley/dinette, sundeck and flybridge.

Boarding the vessel from the side gate the main salon can be reached through the starboard center door or by moving aft, on either side, through the sundeck by a separate door and stairs.

The main salon has a large L-shaped couch plus two barrel chairs. Moving forward and down into the galley you find a large dinette on the starboard side that converts to a double berth. Moving forward again into the guest stateroom there are upper and lower single berths with a separate head and shower.

The forward head is connected to the holding tank and the aft head is connected to a Lectra San unit.

The master stateroom is aft through the salon. It includes a queen-sized centerline berth and a large head with separate shower. There is also a vanity with a swing out seat on the port side.

Moving aft out of the salon you enter the sundeck. There are three comfortable deck chairs and a wet bar in this area. The sundeck is completely enclosed with canvas and isinglass.

Moving onto the flybridge there are two seating areas -- port & starboard -- plus a table. The helm chair is located on centerline. A large bimini covers this entire area.

Access to the foredeck is on either side. There is a washer / dryer combo located in the companionway to the master stateroom. A decommissioned watermaker is on board but it has not been used in several years.

This is a boat with a lot of live-able space.

Cabin heat is provided by a Webasto diesel-fired hydronic furnace system.

Broker's Comments

It is not often that we find a vessel with a recent maintenance and improvement history that is extensive as this one. In the past several years there has been over $50,000.00 of work completed.
An important addition to this vessel is the transferable "Live Aboard" moorage in the Lake Union area. Live aboard status is hard to find.

Engine work - Replaced all injectors and injector pump.
Replaced all belts and hoses.
Replaced all engine exhaust elbows and flanges.
Replaced both propeller shafts.
Replaced all bilge pumps.
Removed and rebuilt all through hulls.
Rebuilt the anchor windlass motor.
Replaced all portlights with new stainless steel models.
Repaired several small blusters on hull.
All new canvas.

This is a great NW cruising boat, with a lot of living space.
