The TP–class tugs were all purpose support vessels used in towing and tendering and general utility work for the US Army. 43 TP's were constructed all with low power as a wartime economy measure and almost all were sold into commercial use after the war ended. They were 91.4’ x 14.10’ with 450hp Fairbanks–Morse six cylinder engines. Built with 12" x 14" deck beams on 18" centers and 12" x 14" ribs. All hull planks were through bolted and the hull treated with coal oil and sheathed in ironwood. All had extra cabins with a large 40 ton capacity hold in the stern. It has been told that this particular T/P was used to tow barges to and from Hawaii during WWII. Following the war it was used by several commercial Tug companies in Oregon and Washington. A 1000 gallon ballast tank had been converted to a holding tank. There is a deck level fitting for pump out and an electric pump with macerator for overboard discharge.
