The teak decks appear to be in very good condition along with sound windows and hatches. There does not appear to be any water intrusion on the interior teak. The exterior bright work: teak cap rails, the cockpit and companionway, all sparkle. A custom boarding ladder gets you onboard easily and demonstrates stunning craftsmanship. The cockpit is extremely roomy with the new propane locker positioned well aft, there is seating both port and starboard with extra large storage lockers below the seating. The access to the engine compartment, which is directly below the cockpit, is either via a large cockpit hatch or behind the companionway stairs and the quarter berth area.

Entering the main cabin via the companionway, the u-shaped galley is to port, directly starboard is the quarter berth and nav station. Forward of the galley is a u-shaped settee which converts to a double sleeping berth with a long settee/single berth to starboard. The saloon area is very cozy with a lantern over the saloon table, bookshelves, warm teak throughout and the Dickinson diesel heater.

Forward of the saloon is the main sleeping cabin. Notable is the privacy afforded this area as the doors to the head and sleeping area connect to separate the area from the saloon. To starboard is a large hanging locker, to port is the head with hand-held shower and ample storage for a longer voyage. The v-berth is full width of the bow with deep storage areas to either side.

The anchor chain locker is completely forward. The teak cabinetry, joinery, and the teak and holly floors all appear remarkably well cared for. In my opinion, she is a lovely boat, and the current owner's attention to repairs and upgrades is easily noticed and appreciated.

This boat is capable of taking you on many adventures!

Broker's Comments

This Union 36 Cutter, designed by Robert Perry and built by Union Yacht Co, Ltd in Taiwan, is a heavy displacement, full-keel double-ender. These boats have a very strong and stable hull and were designed for ocean sailing.

She features a classic, well-built teak interior with teak cockpit and decks. The current owner is a wooden boat builder who has paid particular attention to the repair and renovation of the teak throughout. New standing rigging (2015), a full winter cover (new 2013), new stove and Dickinson heater (2013), are a few of the features that demonstrate the care and attention this Union 36 Cutter has received.

If you are drawn to a Hans Christian 36 or Mariner Polaris 36, you will be happy to include this one in your search!
